Theatre Workout Education

Shakespeare did not write plays to be studied - they were written to be performed! Bring them to life with Theatre Workout.

Theatre Workout's bespoke workshops build confidence to enable students to create. They can be tailored to any Shakespeare play and to the age and ability of your students, taking place in one of our London studios or at your school on request. Workshops are available for Key Stages 1-5 in our London studios or as Outreach workshops in your school, or Online.

Workshops may include:
- Acting techniques such as voice and speech, character development, and improvisation
- Scene studies
- Student performances

Sample Workshops:

  • Primary Schools: An introduction to Shakespeare based on the play of your choice, exploring its central characters, story and themes through image theatre and group devising exercises, along with some reference to language, energy and poetry.
  • Secondary Schools: Acting techniques, speech and scene studies, followed by scene performances in groups. This workshop helps build confidence in speaking Shakespeare, bringing scenes to life.
  • GCSE & A-Level: Discover Shakespeare's hidden direction to the actor through the text, exploring language, energy and diverse characters written into the text, allowing students to interpret and stage speeches and scenes with confidence and conviction.
